Born July 5, 1923, and moved to Miami Beach in 1934. During WWII, Syd entered the US Navy V-12 Officers’ Program at the U of Miami and received his Commission at the Navy Officers School at Harvard. During WWII, Syd served aboard the USS Cook and at the Naval Supply Depot in Okinawa. Syd and his brother Morris owned Miami Seafood Co. Thereafter Syd joined Goodbody and Co where he became manager of the Coral Gables office, which became the first Coral Gables office of Merrill Lynch. Syd worked in managerial positions for several Merrill Lynch offices. After retiring, Syd was an arbitrator for FINRA, was a director of the Boys and Girls Club of Miami, a member of several City of Coral Gables Boards and U. of Miami Community Relations Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Nelda Josepher. Survivors include son Ronald (Debra), son Barry, grandchildren Bryce, Brooke and Alec; and sister Estelle Sage.
Funeral Services to be held at 11 AM on Wed January 6 at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel Kendall, 5900 SW 77th Avenue, Miami 33143 with burial to follow at Mt Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens.
