He retired from the US Navy serving his country proudly and then became a civil servant for the US Government in the field of Logistics. He loved old muscle cars, fishing, shooting at the gun range and enjoyed helping others.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife, Soraida Vargas; son, Jonathan C. Vargas; daughter, Stacy L. Vargas (Caleb Smeatin); step-son, Jose A. Almeyda (Marilyn Nieves); step-daughter, Myraida Vargas (DeAndre Smith); 2 sisters: Lisandra Vargas and Jeannette Vargas; grand-daughter, Ava L. Vargas Smeatin; and a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held 10 AM, Friday, July 29, 2022 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS HOLLY HILL FUNERAL HOME, 3601 Old Jennings Rd, Middleburg, FL. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218 with military honors.
