Charles Littleton Mason, Jr. ”Charlie”, 57, a Jacksonville native, passed away on September 20, 2024. He was born to Jesse Juanita “Won Absher” and Charles Littleton Mason, Sr. in June of 1967. Charlie graduated from Westside Skill Center. Charlie retired from the Jacksonville Transit Authority with over 30 years of service. Charlie was the patriarch of his family. His work ethics will be instilled in his family for generations to come. He was a mechanic by trade and always had to be building the next fastest race car in town. In his spare time, when he wasn't at the race track drag racing he could be found fishing with his Dad and grandchildren in his secret "Honey Hole". Charlie loved taking his family camping wherever there was a beach, river or lake that he could launch his boat. He was most proud to be called "Papa". He loved his wife and two daughters but his grandchildren were truly his heart and soul. Charlie is preceded in death by his father Charles Littleton Mason Sr (Big Charlie), sister Correlena Kirk, his nephew Mason Kirk. Charles is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years Gwendolyn (Cole) Mason, children; Hannah Thompson (Justin), Heather Kimes (Rey), grandchildren, Renee Thompson, Amber & John Moncrief, Elton Littleton Kimes, Charles Evan Kimes, Charlotte Fowler, Lily Charlee-Elaine Lunsford, Cole Lunsford. Great Grandchild Myra Rae Moncrief and his great nephew Curtis Kirk. Charlie will be remembered for his love of family, friends, racing and being on the water.
A private Celebration on Life will be held for Charlie at his favorite "Honey Hole" later this year by his immediate family.
