Donal Jerry Vinson, age 77, of Middleburg, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Jerry was born in Calhoun County, Florida to the late William Henry and Trudy Lollie Vinson. Jerry spent most of his childhood years in Fargo, GA. In 1970, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Lineman. Jerry honorably served three years in the Armed Services and received a Sharpshooter, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Medals before embarking on a new career path. After his tenure in the Army, Jerry continued his service as a lineman working for Southern Bell until his retirement at age 52.
After retirement, Jerry continued to enjoy his time fishing, gardening, master tinkering, and most of all time spent with his grandchildren. Jerry had a tremendous love for his family and touched the lives of many.
“He played a pivotal role in my life and still to date the most positive influence of how a man/father should be. His character is one people could only strive to have and his loyalty and fervent love for all his girls and grandchildren is a legacy to be proud of. I am so thankful to God that I got to be one of his girls, even for a time.” Joy (niece)
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Marie Vinson; daughters Kemberly Pitcher (David), Wendy Douglass, and Sandra Vinson; brother, J.W. Vinson; sister Diana Guy; and grandchildren Eli and Bella Douglass. As well as, many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents William and Trudy Vinson; brothers Willard Vinson, and Richard Vinson; and sisters Mary Waldron and Doris Long.
In keeping with Jerry's wishes, the family has chosen to forgo any formal services at this time.
