Our precious Hilary got his angel wings on Friday April 18, 2025 (Good Friday) in Jacksonville, Florida amongst family. Hilary was in 2nd grade at Discovery Oaks Elementary and he also attended the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church P.R.E.P religious education program. Hilary loved the Lord with all his heart, so much so that he always said two prayers before every meal. He enjoyed praying The Holy Rosary and couldn’t wait to join his sisters as altar servers at the Saint Joseph’s parish where he and his family attended.
Hilary was a very intelligent child, known for his kind heart, wittiness and great sense of humor. Hilary loved playing with his 3 sisters, riding his bike and scooter, playing Uno and traveling. Hilary loved Nigerian food and would often delightfully list his favorite Nigerian soups in this order: Oha, Nsala, Egusi, Ogbono and Onugbu. His favorite snack was Taki’s. Hilary loved creating arts and crafts (he was an amazing artist), his favorite cartoon character was Sonic the Hedgehog and his favorite color was green.
Hilary leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Hilary and Sameatria Okam; his sisters, Kerrie Ify Okam, Lauren Efuru Okam and Naomi Nkobuna Okam; his grandparents, Arret Ifeoma Okam and Sam and Vivian Watkins; his uncle, Herbert Nnamdi Okam; his aunts, Carolyn Parker, Maureen Mimi Achebe, Pearl Nneka Okam and Panthea Watkins; and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Hilary was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hilary Ikechukwu Okam and his uncle, Sam Watkins III.
A Memorial Service will be held May 1, 2025 at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. at 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, Florida 32068
