Whitaker, James K., 67, passed away May 31, 2012. Born in Martinsville, Indiana, he moved to Clay County in 1995. Mr. Whitaker retired from the U. S. Navy and following his military career, retired from NADEP at NAS Jax. His memberships included the VFW 8255, American Legion Post 250, Fleet Reserve 91, and Middleburg Masonic Lodge 107. He was preceded in death by his parents James C. and Waunita Whitaker. Survivors include his wife Ella Drury Whitaker, sisters and brothers, Harvey (Audrey) Whitaker, Vicki (Terry) Payne, Sharon (Dan) Ray, Patricia Murray, Debbie Street, and David Whitaker; a number of nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Sam. A memorial service with military honors will be held 1:00 pm Saturday June 9th at the V F W 8255, 2296 Astor Ave., Middleburg, Fl.
