Michael Paul Schaeffer

Michael Paul "Mike" Schaeffer, 79, passed away on October 16, 2021, at home in Orange Park, FL. Despite a prolonged battle with cancer he remained positive and faced most days with courage and a smile.

Mike served his country first in the US Navy and then completed his education to serve in a different capacity as a Registered Nurse. Throughout his 35 year career he demonstrated his strong work ethics along with a knack for helping people feel at ease.

Mike is survived by Stephanie, his wife of 49 years and by their son Matthew, his wife Lindsay, and 2 grandsons: Aiden (11) and Noah (1). Other surviving family included 2 sisters: Linda (Michael) Brennan of Arizona and Sarah (Terry) Abern-Schaeffer (St. Augustine). Though not related by blood his "Bro" Mike Hayes helped the hospice team keep him active and entertained through long hard weeks with his dry Brit humor.

The family is planning a Memorial Service 10:00 am on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, Florida 32068.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to Safe Animal Shelter in Middleburg, Florida.
