Master Chief Ray A. Meadows received his final earthly orders on August 24, 2012 as he was called home to be with his Heavenly Father. Ray was born in Clay City, Kentucky on September 7, 1928 to Omer and Gladys Meadows. In 1954 he married Jean, the love of his life, and the Navy sent them to Florida where they have resided since 1956. He faithfully served his country for 58 years in the US Navy and Civil Service as an aerospace engineer. He was a long-standing member of Fleming Island Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Ray also spent many years working as a Boy Scout Master. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Meadows, and his children, Debbie Daniel, Sue Ellis, Ray Meadows Jr., Patti Millican (Ross), Brenda Harbin, and Cindy Caldwell (Kevin), his 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Forrest Meadows, Jane Riffe, Carolyn Rice and Judy Howard. The family will accept visitors at HOLLY HILL FUNERAL HOME, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL on Thursday, August 30th from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31st at 11am at Cross Pointe Baptist Church (Formerly Fleming Island Baptist Church) with graveside services following at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
