I am so sorry for your loss. My heart sank when I was searching for Robert and came across this site. Robert was a close friend through high school and was one of my groomsmen for my wedding. While he was attending FSU and was out for the summer, he worked and lived with me while we remodeled a department store in Moultrie Georgia. They were good times and I will always cherish his memories.

Robert and I graduated from high school together. A few years later we lived in an apartment at FSU in 81 and 82. Robert was extremely intelligent and excelled in every academic challenge. He was also an incredible athlete and you never heard anyone say anything negative about Robert. We lost touch over the past 30 years and I recently heard the news. His wife and children can be extremely proud of this exceptional person. 

Laurie and family, when I retired from the FISC at NAS Jax in June 2003, Robert worked for me. He was a wonderful man and when some of us ran around like our hair was on fire to meet deadlines, Robert never got ruffled. He did his work quietly and methodically and always got things done. I just heard of his passing and want to express my deepest sympathy to all of you. May he Rest In Peace and May Jesus help all of you in this time of grief.

I have fond memories of working with Robert.  I worked with him at NAVFAC for several years.  Robert was kind and always a gentleman.  He was always willing to share information, and willing to help out where he could.  Robert always had a can do attitude and shared the "latest and greatest" which is what we referred to documents that had been approved by legal and leadership.  He always managed to have the most current version, it was a big deal to us, and we always appreciated it.   His warm and friendly smile, and gentle soul will be missed but not forgotten.  Thanks for the memories Robert, we had some good times in Bldg. 135.   May you rest in eternal Peace!

My deepest condolences for your entire family. I worked in the building with Robert for 8 years and he always greeted me with a smile or a nod.  He was a kind person that could make you relax no matter your stress level.  While taking an online speech class, I was required to give a videotaped speech each week.  I asked Robert if he wouldn't mind sitting in at lunch and without hesitation he agreed.  He gave me encouragement before and after my speech.  I have missed seeing him around the building.  Rest well my friend.

Robert Woolwine was an outstanding contracting officer and a noble American; most definitely, an officer and a gentleman.  I worked with Robert for about 7 years as his assigned legal counsel.  From day one, Robert impressed me as the kind of person that you want as your client: a smart, hard-working, honest, and reliable warrior that will diligently accomplish the mission, but do so rightfully and ethically.  No matter how complex the issue or sensitive the mission, Robert would always follow his inner moral compass, calmed spirit, and expert knowledge of the contracting laws and regulations to find the best possible solution.  I can bear witness that all of us in this admirable Nation owe Robert a great deal of gratitude for his honorable 34 years of public service.  Robert was an inspiration to all of us in the acquisition field; a zealous advocate for the taxpayer; a tireless warrior of acquisition integrity; and an excellent steward of public trust.  Robert is (not was) the quintessential American hero next door.  Above all, Robert was a dedicated family man, a committed husband, and a dedicated father.  Robert’s premature departure is not fair, but we cannot despair.  We must trust that there is a plan, and that Robert’s legacy will remain strong through his family and through all of us who had the blessed opportunity of working with him.  To the Woolwine family, thank you for sharing Robert with us.  He will be missed, but never forgotten.  In our hearts and memories, Robert lives forever.  

Robert would always stand out back on the dock to our building every morning.  He would be eating an apple and stare into the sun.  He was a quiet guy but always so helpful whenever anyone ever need anything.  He will be missed.

Laurie I am so very sorry for your loss. God will heal, love, and cherish Robert until we all meet again. May your family find comfort in the knowledge that death is the beginning of an eternal life filled with perfect love.


So sorry for your loss. I haven’t seen Robert in 9 years, but he left an everlasting memory. 
This past January/February (2018) I was in Sasebo on a work trip. One leg of this trip had me meeting with a young LT straight out of college. I was taken back by his smile. I was like I know this smile. The smile made me feel comfortable. I look at his name tag and it said Woolwine. I was like it’s so not possible. So during the conversation I had to interrupt when I found out he graduated from a school in Florida. I asked do you know Robert. He said yes he is my dad!!! Yes, the smile was passed on. The spirit of Robert lived in his smile.  Even after 9 years, I could recognize that smile anywhere. Prayers for the family!!

The news of Robert’s passing is truly devastating.  I’ll never forget how helpful he was  to me as a new intern entering the team.  He welcomed me with open arms and never turned me away when I needed his help/guidance.   Throughout my 7 years of working with Robert, he always had a smile on his face.  He was always patient and took time out to assist others on the team as needed.  I’ll always remember his kind smile and his great sense of humor.  He always had us cracking up at the team meetings!  I pray that God provides your family with the strength and courage needed to get through this.  You were such a great person and I’m truly blessed to have known you.  God Bless.

I remember lots of fun trips in our camper to our grandparents in Kentucky followed by a week camping in the Smokey Mountains.  We never stopped to see any tourist sites, though.  Glad to see he did get to “See Rock City”! Loved the picture! Love to you all!

Dear Laurie and family,

Our hearts are filled with sorrow upon hearing about Robert’s passing.  He is now home with our Lord and no more suffering.  We miss him.   Robert and I have been working together for so many years.    He was my great co-worker and wonderful friend.  To most people, Robert seemed a very  quiet person but once you get to know him.  He had a great sense of humor.   We shared lot of laughters at the office and shared stories about funny movies - Austin Powers, Three Stooges ,  any home projects, his bike and families.   He was very proud of his 4 children and wonderful wife.  He talked about them all the time and his lovely dog.  He loved being outside and took lunch break walk.  

May our Lord bless and comfort you and your family during the time of grief.  Please accept our sincere condolences.

Hello family and friends,

I, Tracy Dayton, co-worker and friend of Robert, miss Robert's very kind and humble presence, both in the workplace and in passing, on base, during our individual lunchtime walks over the past several years or so.  I recall on more than one occasion asking Robert how he can possibly walk outside during such extreme heat (upper 80's+), to which his response was "I need to get some fresh air and see the light of day :-)".  Whether chatting for a moment with Robert about his home improvement projects, or passing him on base during his lunch time walk or outside of our building, enjoying a fresh piece of fruit, one thing that was always very obvious to me was that Robert had a very calm and strong sense of inner piece!  I will most definitely miss Robert’s presence!  


My thoughts and prayers are all with you during this very difficult and sad time.
