Shirley A. Bruster, age 90, was called home by the Lord on May 11, 2021 from the Lake City, Florida VA Hospital. Shirley graduated from Rochester High School in Rochester, PA in 1947 and also graduated from Duffs Iron City Business College in Pittsburgh, PA in 1948.
Shirley served four years and was honorably discharged from The United States Air Force (WAF) Women in the Air Force in 1953. While a USAF recruiter she loved her duty.
Shirley was a published poet and loved drawing and painting.
Shirley's charities include "Our Daily Bread Ministries", Jack Van Impe Ministries and SPCA. Shirley was secure in her faith in Jesus. Every person she met she considered a new friend. Our mom was a hugger; so please safely hug someone in her honor.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Clarence N. and Elva Pierce; her brother, Donald J. Pierce; her nephew, Donald J. Pierce, Jr. "Skip"; grandson, Greg Bottoms; and loving daughter, Kathi Brown; as well as her ex-husband, George Bruster; and dear friend, Claude Covington.
She is survived by one son and two daughters, Joseph Bruster and his wife Barbara, Deborah Darnell, and Kristi Newth and her husband Terry; as well as several grand and great grand children.
On behalf of our family to the VA family we wish to thank all the medical staff for all medical care over the years; she was always treated professionally and everyone was always caring.
At Shirley's request, no funeral services will be held. A family and close friend Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hollyhillfunerals.com for the Bruster
