Thomas J. Moe, born July 21, 1940, went to meet his savior and beloved wife on Monday, Sept 21, 2020. Tom was born in Athens, Ohio and was forever a Buckeye at heart, even after living in Florida since 1969. He moved to Florida with his young family after achieving his Master’s in Education from Ohio University. He worked as a teacher in Ashtabula, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Catherine Rosalie Bentley. Tom and Cathy had four children; Melinda, Melissa, Mark and Michael. In Florida, he was principal of Orange Park High School in the early 70’s before moving to the county office in Green Cove Springs. He eventually accepted a new challenge, moving the Clay County school system to a computer network way of working. With no background in computers, he taught himself, including how to write software code. After retiring from the school board, he continued his passion for software at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville where he worked to his early 70’s. Tom had a beautiful bass voice and is remembered for his part in the family gospel trio with his siblings, Nan and Dick. He also loved woodworking and many cherished toys will be played with by generations to come. Tom was a father, grandfather (Bopul) and great-grandfather to many.
His parents, Charles Norman Moe and Mary Emmaline Oyler, predecease him. He lost the love of his life, Cathy in 2018. He lost a precious grandbaby, Ashleigh Kay Batten in 1990.
Tom is survived by many that will miss him. Children: Melinda Kay and Arne Christensen, Melissa Anne and Dan Frisosky, Mark Thomas Moe and Michel Crowder, Charles Michael Moe; Grandchildren: Espen Mysurp Moe, Elise Christensen, Erica Moe, Brittany Anne Batten Bates, SteVen Michael Batten, Thomas Lee Moe, Warren Bentley Moe; Great-grandchildren: Delylah Krehemker, Brage Hetlevik, Emma Cathrine Moe, John-Robert Bentley Bates, Sofie Moe Østrem, Ylva Hetlevik; Siblings: Nancy Henriette Young, Paul Richard and Joy Moe.
