

Floyd Mangle Humphries, 91, of Mint Hill, NC died peacefully at his home June 8th, 2016 at 9:45pm surrounded by his friends and family. He was born April 1st, 1925 in Gastonia, NC to Carl Humphries and Nancy Williams.
He enlisted in the military at the age of 15 and served for 3 years as a cook for the Army Air Force. He then worked for the City of Charlotte until he retired. His hobbies include walking, gardening, talking about fishing and collecting coins. He was a member of Hickory Grove Church of God .
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Reep Humphries, two sons Carl Richard Humphries, Sr. and Floyd Mangle Humphries, Jr., and his sisters Ruth Pappamihiel, Ruby Jean Humphries-Hicks and brother Roy Lee. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Humphries Locklear and her husband Larry Locklear his son Donnie Ray Humphries, Sr. and his wife Darlene Elizabeth Humphries, daughter in law Shirley Humphries, his grandchildren Tammy Bullard, Ronnie Locklear, Carl Humphries ,Jr. Jennifer Humphries, Donnie Humphries, Jr., Megan Chavis, Jessica Humphries, Michael Humphries, Daniel Humphries, Melissa Humphries, Kendall Locklear, his great grandchildren Terricak Conner, Timmie Bullard, Jimmie Bullard, Peyton Chavis, Landon Chavis, Andrew “Jake” Chavis, Bradley Humphries and great great grandchildren Laynya Locklear, Aalyiah Connor, Mela Connor, Keke Connor, Nya Connor.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 12, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel with Reverend J. D. Parker Officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, June 11,2016 7:00pm-9:00pm and June 12, 2016 from 12:00pm -1:00pm prior to the service.
The family would like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte for providing for Mr. Humphries during his last days and extend heartfelt appreciation to the nurses Elizabeth Ashley Bell, Linda White, and Priscilla for being there when they were needed.
