Frances Louise Griffin Story

She was born February 1, 1924 in Whaleyville, VA, graduated from Whaleyville High School and attended Farmville State Teacher’s College. Following college, Mrs. Story taught first grade for three years in Suffolk, VA. After her marriage to Horace Story she served and supported him in the pastoral ministry for 34 years. In the church Mrs. Story was a children’s teacher as well as a leader of women’s groups. She was also the perfect hostess, always prepared and willing to meet the needs of others. She was a genuine person with a quiet sweetness that endeared her to all.

Mrs. Story is survived by her husband of 66 years, Horace Story, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Wayne Hall of Mint Hill, NC; two grandsons Ryan Hall of Albemarle, NC and Stephen Hall, wife Casey, and great-grandson Zane Hall, all of Mint Hill, NC; a brother, Horace Griffin, Jr.; nephews Michael Griffin and David Griffin; and a niece Debbie Manuel, all of Suffolk, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Mamie Griffin; a daughter, Brenda Story; and a brother, James Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Eastern Hill Baptist Church in Charlotte with the Rev. Renato Costa officiating. Graveside services will follow immediately in Sunset Memory Gardens.
