Born December 17, 1921 in South Boston, VA, Mr. King was the son of the late Samuel Osborne King and Mary Anna Griffin King. He was a 1939 graduate of Central High School and had attended Kings College.

After his release from military service, Mr. King returned to his former employer and continued to work as a member of the Accounting Division.
Sometime later, Mr. King was elected to the company’s Board of Directors as Corporate Secretary. He served in that position until the firm was acquired by The Washington Group, Inc., a holding company based in Winston-Salem, NC, after which came his appointment as Assistant to the Manager of Purchasing Division of the reorganized firm. Still later, he was designated Customer Service Manager, a post he held until retirement in 1977.
Mr. King was a longtime member of Grace Crossing Baptist Church, formerly known as Shamrock Drive Baptist Church, having for many years rendered service to it as a Trustee, as well as serving in its Bible Study Department as General Secretary.
He is survived by a cousin and longtime caregiver, Beverly Randall; and numerous other cousins.
