Marie Estelle Morton King

A service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 6050 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC 28215. The Reverend Joe Brown is officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the church preceding the celebration of life.

Born July 25, 1917, in Charlotte, NC, Mrs. King was the daughter of the late Harley Calvin and Tallulah Belk Morton. She was a charter member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. King taught swimming to special needs children at the Johnson Memorial YMCA for 25 years. She was the beloved matriarch of a multi-generational family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Samuel Johnson King of Denver, NC.

Survivors include her five children, Patricia King Dinger and husband, Donald, of Fort Worth, TX, James Stuart King of Charlotte, NC, Rebecca King Goudy and husband, Richard, of Longs, SC, Brenda King Egnor and husband, Max, of Fort Mill, SC, and Andrew King and wife, Colleen, of Harrisburg, NC; her 14 grandchildren, Cheryl Dinger Lasater, Donald Ellsworth Dinger, Jr., Laura Marie Dinger, Wendy King Wardlaw, Amy King Furches, Christi King Parshall, Brittany King Guy, Wayman Dixon Goudy, Tsali James Goudy, Stephen Andrew Goudy, John Hunter Egnor, Jennifer King Rapacciuolo, Amanda King Coco, and Drew Cholmondeley King; 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
