Much loved uncle, Arthur Henry Harris, 77, of Encino, California, passed away on March 14, 2022. Born on May 28, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the youngest child of the late Muriel and Jack Harris and brother to the late Allen Harris.
He was a graduate of UCLA, but knowing himself well enough to realize that he would not do well working for someone else, he forged his own way, creating a career for himself. Art traversed the country, attending banking board meetings as well as art shows, doing the work he loved and admiring the art he held so dear. He became the foremost banking authority in the country, and he will be greatly missed in that industry. He was also at the heart of the art community in many cities across the country, and he will be missed there, as well.
True to his name, Art was a passionate art collector and possessed a collection worthy of the greatest museums. In particular, his collection of Ben Sakoguchi's orange crate labels is the largest in the world and has been featured in several museums. Art also loved hiking in his beloved Santa Monica mountains, which is where his ashes will be scattered.
Arthur is survived by his nieces, Tammy Graves and Janine Terrazas, who will be hosting a virtual memorial service in a couple of months, after they have had time to reach more of his extensive friendship circle. To be notified with information about the memorial or to contact his nieces, send an email to [email protected].
