Janice Shirley Michelson Landy was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Her parents were Eva and Max Michelson. She had three siblings -- Richard, Marvin, and Edna. She married Harold Landy in 1946, and they moved to Los Angeles in the '50s. Janice and Harold raised three children -- Kathi, Marc, and Joe.
Janice made magic with her hands -- sewing men's suits in the tradition of her father's tailoring skills, and she sculpted, knitted, upholstered, painted, embroidered, and was involved in many other home crafts. Janice and Harold traveled all over the world; they hosted a hundred international families in their Woodland Hills home, and became close with their European, Indian, and Russian friends. Janice enjoyed entertaining, cooking, gardening, and exploring the world. Her Judaism played a large part in her worldview and philosophies.
Janice had a huge heart and a strong feeling for family. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her warmth and humor will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children and granddaughter Rosie Fiore-Born and great grandchildren Desmond and Jude.
