One of Joyce’s many gifts was the passion she found for transcribing text into Braille, which she used to make books accessible for children and adults in the blind community.
“Volunteering is an act of heroism on a grand scale. And it matters profoundly. It does more than help people beat the odds; it changes the odds.” – U.S. President William J. Clinton
Joyce embodied this heroism throughout her more than 30-year volunteer career as she helped to change the odds for all those who have read or will read the many books she transcribed.
“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” – Albert Pike
