Born Rochelle Albee on Monday, April 15, 1936, to Murray and Matilda Albee, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the oldest of three sisters.
Her upbringing was cheerful -- as a child, she was very fond of a white Spitz terrier named Candy. She graduated from Tilden High School in Flatbush in 1954 with an emphasis on business skills, including proficiency in both Gregg and Pitman shorthand.
She met her husband, Alvin Berkowitz, while dining at a Chinese restaurant with her sister Della sometime in 1954. By then she was working at Arrow Electronics, her first job.
She and Al eloped to Virginia and on November 28, 1954 got married with her mother and sister Shirley in attendance as witnesses.
She worked at a number of businesses throughout the years and was a valued employee wherever she went.
Known as Rae to nearly everyone who knew her, she became a talented and rather well-known "stitcher" and needlepoint artist with a great wealth of beautiful pieces.
She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey, Linda, and Michael, and her grandchildren, Carley, Skyler, Erol, Montana, Xenon, and Antimony, and one great-grandchild Avin.
Services for Rae will be on Sunday, January 12th at 11 am with graveside immediately to follow.
