March 10, 1934 - May 30, 2017 Stan Swartz, 83, a longtime resident of Pacific Palisades, passed away in Santa Monica. Born in Ogden, Utah, the Swartz family moved to Los Angeles in 1945 where Stan soon attended Fairfax High School. In 1953, Stan enlisted in the Marines and proudly served in Korea until 1955. He later co-founded Alpha Construction Company in 1965. With a passion for the outdoors and for trail running, he founded the Trail Runners Club. He authored two books: "50 Trail Runs in Southern California" and "Trail Running: From Novice to Master." He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine (Shatsky) Swartz; his daughter Wendy Hecht (Joel); his son Jeffrey Swartz (Donna); and his daughter Nancy Spear (Sam); seven beloved grandchildren; brothers; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all of them. A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 4, 10am, at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City.
