She was born in Kingston, PA on September 7, 1932 to Sheldon W. Strunk and Helen M. Strunk (Shaver).
Beverly graduated from Kingston High School in 1950. She remembered her time there fondly, playing the clarinet, performing in school plays, and maintained special friendships from high school throughout her life. She married Norman "Bud" Roderick June 6, 1954 and lived in Wilkes Barre, PA before moving to York, PA and eventually Richmond, VA. Beverly had excellent secretarial skills with rapid typing and shorthand abilities which she utilized in various positions. She eventually became the owner of ACE Advertising which she maintained from home for over 40 years. She also enjoyed sharing her organizational skills by holding positions with the Women's Club of Meadowbrook Country Club and later the Braxton community of North Chesterfield, VA. Beverly loved gardening, bird watching, golfing, sewing, reading, and animals of all kinds, especially dogs. She loved the travel she was able to experience, which included many trips to golf courses with her husband and friends, England, Wales, points out west such as the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, cruising the inside passage to Alaska, driving the Alcan Highway and many annual trips to Duck, NC with a very special extended family, and many visits to Patterson Grove in Shickshinny PA with members of the Strunk family.
First and foremost she was a wonderful wife, and mother to her son and daughter. She always made them feel like her time with them was her favorite, and maintained a beautiful, welcoming, and loving home throughout her life.
Beverly is survived by her brother, Robert Strunk (Franny) and their extended family in Shickshinny, PA; her son, James Gary Roderick (Kim) of Monroe, NC; her daughter, Carol Lee Samuelson (Erwin) of Anchorage, AK; and grandson, Lance Samuelson of Glenview, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman "Bud" Roderick; her mother, Helen M. Strunk; and her father, Sheldon W. Strunk.
Her family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
