Dean Little

Sheila “Dean” Rushing Little, age 70, of Monroe, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 4, 2021 after a long illness. She was a daughter of the Wayne and Dixie Rushing family of Monroe, North Carolina, and is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doug Little; son Bryan Little (Beverly) of New Salem; son Brad Little (Amy) of Polkton; grandsons JD Little (Payton) of Albemarle, Drew Little and Dylan Little of New Salem; and granddaughter Sarah Little of Wingate. Survivors also include her dear brothers and sisters and their spouses, nieces and nephews.

Dean was born in Monroe, North Carolina on May 3, 1951. She graduated from Stanly Technical College with an Associate in Applied Science Data Processing in September 1983. She worked as a Computer Software Delivery Specialist for AXA Equitable Insurance.

Dean enjoyed traveling, studying genealogy, collecting antiques, and reading her Bible. She was a member of The North Carolina Federation of Republican Women. Above all, she loved JD, Drew, Sarah, and Dylan, barely containing her excitement when her grandchildren visited. She was a devoted and involved grandmother, known as "Mamaw" to her grandsons and granddaughter.

Dean has been described by her friends as one of the most caring and giving people they know. She often assumed the burden of worrying about the health or difficulties of her family and friends and always went out of her way to help if she could, or to give unvarnished advice if needed. Despite her compassionate nature, she could also be as tough as nails. Dean was a loving and colorful woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm Monday, November 8, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church, Monroe, NC. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Little will begin at 1:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church Family Life Center with interment following at Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist, Monroe, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Trinity Baptist Building Fund, 2613 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the Little family.
