She was born on February 3, 1937 to the late Broadus and Margaret Broome. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, singing, and playing the piano. She also enjoyed going out to eat, especially trips to The Seagull fish camp. Her most important enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially around the holidays.
Along with her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her children, Carson S. Richardson, Ricky D. Richardson, and Wanda K. Braswell; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters. She is survived by her children, Debbie Linker (Darrell), Dennis Richardson (Belinda), Kim Hall, and L.J. Bridges; grandchildren, Jason Linker, Darrell Linker, Jr., Daniel Linker, Andrea Richardson, Dennis Richardson II, Ethan Harrington, Brittany Hall, Brandi Richardson, Natasha Handley, Ricky Richardson, Jr., Crystal McCollum, and Tyler McCollum; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will then be held at 1:15 pm at the McEwen Colonial Chapel with burial immediately following the service at Lakeland Memorial Park.
