Dorothy Ellen Mills

She was born July 26, 1926 in Chester County, SC, a daughter of the late Mr. Avery E. Williams and the late Mrs. Margaret Varnadore Williams. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Douglas Mills.

Mrs. Mills is survived by one son: Larry D. Mills and wife Doris Jean of Mooresville, NC; one daughter: Diane Mills McAteer and husband Boyd of Monroe, NC, one sister: Laura Woodruff of Colorado; four grandchildren: Kimberly Noggle and husband Blaine; Heather Mullis and husband Randy, Jonathan Mills, and Christopher Mills; 11 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday March 15, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe with Funeral Services to celebrate her life beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bill Englebreath, with burial to follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 3522 Secrest Shortcut Road, Monroe, NC 28110 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
