

He was born October 3, 1935 to the late Boyd B. and Dora Price Laney. He was the oldest of seven children. Douglas retired from the City of Monroe and was the owner of Laney Electric for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, McKaeeby Craig Laney and three children, Christine (David) Surratt, Wray (Debbie) Laney and Teresa (David Jr.) Laney; six grandchildren include Zane (Melissa) Surratt, Haiden Laney, Marshall Laney, Jennifer Michel Conley, Natalie (Jesse) Rorie and David (Velaray) Laney; twelve great-grandchildren include Taylor, Reagan, Cameron, Conley, Chloe, Maverick, Boyd, Brantley, Tucker, Conlee, Abigail and Rayleigh; his two sisters, Evelyn Estridge of Lancaster SC and Dean (Gene) Wortman of Monroe NC and by his four brothers, Brady (Phyllis) Laney, Jerry (Pat) Laney, Ronnie (Linda) Laney and Donie Laney all of Monroe.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, October 22, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Laney will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, October 23, 2021 in McEwen Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 11:00am in Lakeland Memorial Park.
