Mrs. Emma Lee Helms, 81, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe. Mrs. Helms was born May 12, 1934 in Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Helms who died in 1983 and a son Walter Eric Helms.
Visitation will be Friday evening, April 1, 2016 from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Services to celebrate her life will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in the McEwen Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, 2915 Goldmine Rd, Monroe N.C.
Survivors include two children: Karen Howie (Ronald) and Bobby Helms both of Monroe N.C., 7 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
