Mrs. Frances Griffin Thomas, 82, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Carolina Medical Center-Union. Mrs. Thomas was born May 13, 1929 in Union County, daughter of the late G.W. and Dora Bell Williams; she was also preceded in death by her husband Brooks F. Thomas who died in 1997. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 until 3:30 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, with services to celebrate her life beginning at 3:30 in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Eric Cook officiating; interment will follow in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters: Mary T. Arant of Stanfield N.C. and Melissa T. Pugh and husband Greg of Wingate N.C., 6 Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 4615 Olive Branch Rd., Wingate N.C. 28174.
