Gary Benton, 56, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Novant Medical Center in Matthews. Gary was born July 21, 1960 in Mecklenburg County, son of Mrs. Myrtle Elliott Benton and the late James J. Benton who died in 2005. He was also preceded in death by a grandson Justin who died in 2005. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, services to celebrate the life of Gary will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the McEwen Colonial Chapel with Reverend Dallas Pressley officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife; Tammy Hinson Benton, Mother; Myrtle Benton, Daughters; Angela Gulledge (Nicholas), Maleah Davis (Brian), Son; Brad Collins (Tammy), grandchildren; Nichole, Brooklyn, Gracie, Jayla, Connor, Jaidyn and Baylynn, Brother; Scott Benton (Kim).
