

He was born on June 2, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Salvatore (Sam) and Josephine DeSantis. Gary was a graduate of De La Salle Collegiate High School in Detroit, Michigan. He then received his Bachelor of Arts from Wayne State University, also in Detroit, and later a Master of Arts from Michigan State University. For 20 years, Gary had a career in public television where he served as Vice President of WTVI in Charlotte, North Carolina. He later retired as a transportation specialist for Union County Social Services in Monroe, North Carolina. Gary was very active in his community where he was a Rotary member of Union West Rotary. He was also a man of great faith and was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Monroe, North Carolina. More importantly, Gary was a man who loved and cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with them and making precious memories.
Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Edward DeSantis; and grandmother, Anna DeChellis. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Ann DeSantis; children, Matthew Stephen DeSantis, Emily Claire Tumminello (A.J), and Tyler Allen Hildebrand; grandchildren, John, Elliana, and Judah Tumminello; brother, Domenic DeSantis; sister-in-law, Cynthia Dash; nieces, Alexis, Alyssa, and Laini; mother-in-law, Mary DiSciullo; as well as many loving relatives in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware.
