

Harry O. Davis, age 87, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Salisbury VA Hospice Medical Center. Born July 20, 1928 in Union County, son of the late Walter DeClyde and Nellie Ada Presson Davis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin. He graduated from Union High School, class of 1945.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Hazeline G. Davis; daughter, Tammy Davis Ethridge (David); son, Douglas W. Davis (Stacey); five grandchildren, David Jr. and William Ethridge, Kristina E. Bode (Donovan), DJ and Josie Davis; one sister, Betty D. Bowlin (Richard) and two brothers, Thomas H. Davis (Shirley) and William Ray Davis (Joyce).
Mr. Davis lived a lifetime of service to others which included being a longtime member of Lee Park Baptist Church where he served in many positions including Deacon, which earned him the first Deacon Emeritus Award ever granted by Lee Park Baptist Church. He also served his country during the Korean Conflict as well as serving his community by working as a Public Safety Officer (Policeman, Fireman, and EMT), retiring as a policeman in 1987.
Mr. Davis was an avid NASCAR fan having driven a race car earlier in his life. His family, friends and church family will hold dear the many happy memories of their time shared together throughout the years.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 1:30pm until 3:00pm at Lee Park Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 3:00pm. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
