He loved his Lord first and his family only second. Joseph was a man of great character; a machinist who, until the age of 84, worked hard and earned everything he had to provide for his family and give back to his community. Even though he had only an 8th-grade education, he had all the wisdom and intelligence he needed to make parts for or repair the machines he worked on. All his hard work made it possible to take his family to see just about every state in the United States, his country, which he was very proud to live in.
He will be missed deeply by his loving wife of 66 years, Joanne Mucci. From the day the two of them were born in the same hospital, God had a plan for them to meet 4 years prior to their 4th of July wedding, giving them 71 blessed years together.
The Lord richly blessed him and his beloved wife with 9 children, each a part of the heritage God entrusted to them.
Joseph was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Elizabeth; and daughter Annamarie.
He is survived by son, Joseph Mucci, Jr. (wife, Chris Mucci); son, Mark Mucci; daughter, Maryanne Mucci Hickson (husband, Joseph Hickson); daughter, Theresa Sebastian; daughter, Lorraine Link Mucci; son, Dominick Mucci; and daughter, Joanne Carmella Mucci; 24 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, located at 3316 Pleasant Plains Road, Matthews, North Carolina. A service to celebrate Joseph’s life will be held following the visitation at 4:00 pm.
