Kathy lived her life with grace and beauty. Her exceptional selflessness, warmth, and kind nature produced deep relationships with all of her friends and family. Kathy's smile and laugh were contagious, bringing light and joy to everyone who knew her.

Kathy was born June 24, 1953 in Lexington, SC, daughter of the late Richard and Alice Backmon of Lexington, SC, where she was later adopted by Melvin and Peggy Kennerly McCord of Greensboro, NC. A sister to the late Rodger Backmon of Columbia, SC and a grandmother to the late Paul Parker of Monroe, NC.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Stephanie and husband Jeremy Moore of Monroe, NC; her son, Christopher and wife Michele Jones of Mathews, NC; her daughter, Brandie Jones of Belton, SC; seven grandchildren, Phillip, Alex, Dylan, Matthew,Chandler, Sydney and Autumn; three sisters, Brenda Backmon Neeley of Columbia, SC., Clara Pate of Lexington, SC., Rebecca Nell Backmon Golf of Columbia, SC; her brother, Charles Richard Backmon Smith of Columbia, SC., as well as many nieces and nephews, Maurice and Kristi McCord of Greensboro, NC. and their three children, Liza Grace, Collin, and Christopher, and her former husband and best friend, Tim Conner of Princeton, WV.

The family will celebrate Kathy's life on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 4:00pm with Pastor Rick Phifer officiating the ceremony at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe at 204 S. Main Street Monroe, NC 28112. Online condolences may be offered by visiting www.mcewenmonroechapel.com.
