Marvin R Brooks

He was born in Union County, NC on April 19, 1928, son of the late John F. Brooks and Della Yow Brooks.

Marvin was a wonderful husband and father to a family he loved dearly. He was especially fond of his many grandchildren.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served faithfully as Deacon and Brotherhood director for many years. He was a tool and die maker by trade and was dedicated to his work. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Tarlton; brother Nay Yow, and grandson Brandon Keziah. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy Baker Brooks; seven children, Rhonda Anspach (Henry) of Rock Hill, SC, Sylvia Keziah, Benita Watts (Byron), Randy Brooks (Mandy), Steve Brooks (Cathy), Eddie Brooks all of Monroe, NC, and Ryan Brooks (Mark) of Atlanta, GA. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at 2:00pm with funeral services following at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 6907 Gus Eubanks Rd, Monroe, NC. His grandson, Rev. John Wesley Keziah and Rev. Eddie Barbee will be officiating.
