Mary Carol Helms

Mrs. Mary Carol Helms passed away peacefully on May 4th at her home surrounded by her family after a long fight with breast cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Frank and her three children and grandson, her son Justin and wife Kari Helms, her daughter Rachel Hems and boyfriend Brian O’Mary, her grandson Jordan and her son Rob Helms and his fiancée Emily Starnes. She was the beloved daughter of the late Bob and Mary Willi of Charlotte, and daughter-in-law of the late Bruce and Johnsie Helms of Harrisburg NC, the late sister-in-law of Sherry D. Helms of San Clarita, Calif., the late brother-in-law Bruce M. Helms of Indian Trail N.C., and the loving sister of Lin Ford of Charlotte NC, Barb Evans of Greenville Tn., Marty Scheffler and husband Jim of Florida, and her brother Tom Willi and wife Pam of Waxhaw NC. She was born in Chicago Ill., August 17, 1958 and moved to Charlotte in 1969 where she graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1976. Mary married Frank on September 18, 1982 and they settled in the Cabarrus County area, where they raised their family and worked together in the family business. She loved her family and some of her happiest moments were spending time with them at the beach. She was a long time member of Harrisburg Church of God. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Mary will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday in the McEwen Colonial Chapel in Monroe, with Reverend Todd Jacobs officiating, interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. A special thank you to Dr. Thomas Steffens and special adviser Cindy Wise and all the staff of CMC Northeast Medical Center.
