

Mary Alice enjoyed watching cooking shows on TV and was known for her famous creamed corn. She liked spending time doing Word Search puzzles. Mary especially loved all types of animals.
Mary Alice is predeceased by her husband, Leonard “Hot Shot” Simpson and her siblings, Cecil McManus, Robert McManus, Mildred McManus Alexander, Henry “Bud” Kelly McManus Jr., Helen McManus Helms, Paul McManus, Francis McManus Burr and her infant twin brother, Eugene McManus.
She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly “Joe Boggs” Griffin and Emily (Gary) Dillingham; grandchildren, David Scott Griffin, Brandon Clark Rowell and Michelle Rowell Lea; sisters, Betty McManus Long and Geraldine McManus Griffin and nephew, Robert Burr.
A Graveside Service will be held at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, January 30 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to honor Mary Alice’s love of animals to The Humane Society of Union County, PO Box 101, Monroe, NC 28111.
McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is serving the Simpson family.
