Mary Ann was born on June 13, 1941 to the late Blanch Reddick Young and the late Frederick Nelson Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, Evan “Buddy” Walters, her third husband, Victor Douglas Gaddy Sr., her son, William F. Beasley, Jr., her granddaughter Candace Beasley, stepsons, Russell Gaddy and Victor Douglas Gaddy Jr.
Mary Ann loved her family and spending time with them. She often showed her love through food. Though several of her children and grandchildren live throughout the country, she made sure to gather the whole family at least once a year for Thanksgivings at the beach. She spent the entire day cooking enough to feed an army, using two kitchens, and always baking each person’s favorite kind of pie. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren have many fond memories of their Mawmaw (Grandma Wind) or Grandma Walters.
Throughout her life Mary Ann adored caring for her many pets, including multiple dogs, birds, and horses. She also enjoyed bowling and spent many hours solving puzzles. Mary Ann lived a life of generosity. She loved making sourdough bread and chocolate candies to gift to friends and family. Continuing her legacy of giving, her desire was to donate her body to medical science.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Michaelle Helms and husband, Willie Mac, Patricia Ewing and husband, Austin; her sons, Phillip Young Ciana and wife, Nora, and James Andrew Todd Beasley and wife, Angie; her 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren with another on the way next month. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Pam W Perkins, Connie Sue Walters, Timothy Walters, Terry Gaddy, Julie Daniels and husband Lonnie, Beverly Brogden and husband Brian.
