Matt was the definition of a family man. Everything he did, he did for his boys and for his wife, Dallas, the love of his life and his soulmate. Their story began with love at first sight at the beach, and from that moment on, they built a life filled with deep love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they shared 20 years of life, growing up side by side, raising their children, and always finding their way back to each other through every season.
He was a proud and loving father, and being a dad was his greatest purpose. His boys were his world, and he made sure they knew every single day just how much they were loved.
Matt had a brilliant and curious mind. He seemed to know a little bit about everything. Whether it was cars, electronics, or random facts, he was always the one people turned to when something needed fixing or figuring out. He could tell you what kind of car was driving by, how much it was worth, and probably how to fix it too. If something electronic was broken, Matt was your guy.
Beyond all of that, it was the little things that made him so special. He would play “their song” just to call Dallas into the room so he could get his “loves, hugs, and kisses.” He made sure she always had bird seed for her feeders, things for her flowers and filled their home with little reminders—like Highland cows—because he knew how much she wanted one. He took care of the small things that meant the most. He loved deeply, quietly, and fully.
Matt found meaning in simple signs of life and love...red cardinals reminding him of his mother, Pam and yellow butterflies symbolizing Dustin. Those small moments meant everything to him.
He and Dallas shared a love that was rare, built on passion, friendship, and a bond that could not be broken. They dreamed of growing old together, traveling the world, and one day having a beach house where their children and future grandchildren could gather and make memories.
Matt is survived by his loving wife, Dallas, and their beautiful boys, along with family and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
He will be remembered for his big heart, his knowledge, his humor, and the deep, unconditional love he gave to those closest to him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Oakboro Cemetery, located at 1373 N. Main Street, Oakboro, North Carolina, with Pastor Gary Baker and Pastor Jeff Whitecotton officiating.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love will live on in his children, in the memories he gave us, and in the signs he leaves behind. Matt was truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
