Born on March 5, 1960, to the late Frederick Henry and Annie Mae Lamb Deputy, Michael grew into a man whose passions and playful spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Michael had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was always learning; reading and exploring subjects that fascinated him, from gardening and fishing to astronomy and aviation, and everything in between.
Michael found joy in the simple, grounding pleasures of the world around him. He loved fishing, whether at local lakes or out on the open ocean during deep-sea trips that became some of his favorite adventures. Gardening was another passion, one he first shared with his father and grandfather before cultivating his own beautiful garden, tended with care and pride.
He was also known for his humor, always playful, mischievous, and ready to make everyone laugh. But above all, Michael loved his family and his friends fiercely. He supported them in every way he could and brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of wonder to every gathering. Children especially gravitated toward him; drawn to his kindness and the joy he carried so naturally.
Animals held a special place in Michael’s heart, especially the dogs who accompanied him through different chapters of his life. From Geo and Marge in earlier years to our golden retriever, Dunk, who brought him comfort and companionship after the loss of his brother, Michael’s bond with his pets reflected his gentle and loyal nature.
Michael was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His absence leaves a profound emptiness, but his memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.
Along with his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Scott Deputy, and his sister, Karen Deputy. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Deputy; granddaughter, Isabella Deputy; sister, Dena Ansari-Lari; nephew, Blake Deputy; nieces, Sammy Ansari-Lari and Brittney Reeves; grand-nieces, Teagan Reeves and Jacelyn Reeves; and brother-in-law, Mehdi Ansari-Lari.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Friday, March 6th, 2026, at 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina.
