

Mrs. Rachel Faulkenbury Starnes Wolfe, age 77, of Concord, NC passed into God’s hands from natural causes Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the Caremoor Assisted Living in Kannapolis, NC. A dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was a wonderful example of faith and hope.
Rachel was born March 15, 1937, in Union County, NC; a daughter of the late Mr. John Wesley Faulkenbury and Mrs. Emma Gladys Riggins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter; Susan Starnes Joyner, who left this world too soon.
After high school graduation, she fell madly in love with Ted Starnes and the two were married 6 months later, on April 18, 1958, in Pageland, SC. They made their home in Monroe, NC and had 3 children.
Rachel is survived by one daughter: Lisa Thompson and husband John of Kannapolis, NC; One son: Mike Starnes of Concord, NC; Four grandchildren: Brandon, Dana, Sheena, and Corey; Seven great grandchildren: Jacob, Justin, Amanda, Mason, Landon, Davis, and Hunter; Five sisters; Two brothers. She was fortunate to be surrounded by loving and caring family members during her last moments.
The family will receive friends for visitation Monday May 19, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe with Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wolfe beginning at 2:00 PM in the McEwen Colonial Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jeff Black, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
