

Joseph Ray Blythe of Monroe went home to be with the Lord on Monday July 26th, 2021. Mr. Blythe was born in Waxhaw, in Union County, NC on August 14,1937. He was the last surviving child of William Baxter and Ida May Blythe.
Mr. Blythe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Kathleen Blythe; three sons, Ricky Lamar Blythe, Russell Erick Blythe and wife Claudette Blythe, and Robert Wayne Blythe and wife Tina Blythe. Mr. Blythe has also been blessed with five grandchildren; Ricky, Dylan, April, Samantha, and Lucas. Including the grandchildren’s spouses and two great grandchildren, Gunner and Tex, plus one on the way, Eva Grace, Mr Blythe leaves behind a large, beautiful family.
Ray was many things to many people. He was a loyal husband of 65 years, a loving father to his 3 children, a dedicated pawpaw to his grandchildren, an unfailing friend to all he met, and a faithful follower to the true and living Jesus Christ. He devoted himself to his family and to the work of the Lord. You could always count on him to be there for anyone who needed him. He had a testimony that he had accepted Christ as his Savior. His family can rejoice in knowing he is made whole through Jesus. Ray leaves behind a legacy that his family is proud to carry on.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 30 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Road, Monroe, NC. The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, July 31 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
