Thelma Jean Griffin

Mrs. Thelma G. Griffin, 87,of Wingate, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Brian Center of Monroe. Mrs. Griffin was born March 12, 1926 in Union County, daughter of the late Bascom and Carlena Haney Grant, she was also preceded in death by her husband; Mace Lee Griffin who died in 1989, a sister; Ruby Wright, brothers; Leroy Grand and Reverend John Grant. Thelma was a lifetime member of Faulks Baptist Church, and a 1943 graduate of Union High School. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2013 from 10:30 until 12:00 Noon at Faulks Baptist Church, with services to celebrate her life beginning at Noon in the Church Sanctuary, with Reverend Frank Crump and Reverend David Richardson officiating, interment will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include her daughter: Beverly Griffin Sessoms of Wingate, a son; Barry Dennis Griffin and wife Sue of Monroe, sister; Eloise Grant Gowder of Moncks Corner, grandchildren, Duane Tucker, Shannon Flores, Melanie Starnes and Josh Griffin, 6 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
