Andrew “Drew” McCall Dauphin, 26, a Montgomery native, beloved son, brother, and friend, tragically lost his life on January 1, 2025. He was among numerous other innocent victims in a cowardly and heinous terrorist attack in New Orleans, LA. This evil act, however, will never overshadow the love, happiness, and warmth that Drew brought to everyone who crossed his path. His legacy of kindness and joy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
Drew was the eldest son of Jerry and Margaret Dauphin. Born on March 9, 1998, he grew up in a loving household with his parents and his younger brother, Matthew, who was his best friend. Drew attended Alabama Christian Academy, where he excelled as a talented student-athlete in both baseball and football.
After graduating in 2016, he pursued his education at his beloved Auburn University, where he was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta. Drew earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, graduating in 2023. Following graduation, Drew moved to Birmingham and began his career at Honda’s Lincoln, AL, facility, working in the Crisis Management Department.
Drew’s greatest passions were his family, friends, sports, music, and Lake Martin. Exposed to the lake at a young age by his parents, Drew and Matthew could often be found swimming, boating, and wakeboarding, fully embracing everything Lake Martin had to offer. As his friends will attest, Drew loved nothing more than sitting in the sun on a dock or boat at the lake, likely because it mirrored the warmth and light he brought to the world. Lake Martin was where Drew found true peace and joy.
Sports were another lifelong passion for Drew, and he poured his heart into every game, both as a player and a dedicated fan. He also had a deep love for music, which was a source of inspiration throughout his life. Music was one of many ways Drew expressed his vibrant spirit.
May Drew’s memory be a blessing, living on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. May his life and legacy serve as an inspiration to us all.
Drew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert and Ernestine Talley, and Alton and Marianne Wallace Dauphin. He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Margaret; his brother, Matthew; and their beloved family cat, Momma Kitty. He is also survived by his uncles Danny, David and Richard Talley, and Keith (Krista) Dauphin; his aunt, Catherine (Dan) Settle; and his great-uncle, Mac (Evelyn) Dauphin.
A visitation to celebrate Drew’s life will be held Sunday, January 12th from 2 – 4pm at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117.
In lieu of flowers, the Dauphin family asks that donations be made to Children's Harbor. https://www.childrensharbor.com/donate/
