The daughter of a career U.S. Air Force man, Carole was born in Limestone, Maine, on Nov. 22, 1961, and lived in many places before settling in Montgomery as a young teenager.
She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery and Auburn University’s School of Nursing and began a distinguished career in medicine, working as a registered nurse for hospitals, home health care, hospice and doctors’ offices. She was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church in Montgomery and was a strong advocate for Catholic school education.
Carole’s personal life centered on her family, where she was the lifeblood of every celebration. She planned countless holiday dinners, anniversaries and birthdays for the Skoneki-Clark clan. But perhaps the biggest party of all was held in early June to honor her, as more than 100 friends, classmates and family gathered in her beautiful home in County Downs to celebrate her life. She also loved to shop, especially with her beloved sister-in-law, Karen Heymann, who called their trips to Birmingham and Atlanta “retail therapy.”
Carole is survived by her husband, Gary Clark of Montgomery; sons, Joey and Will Clark, of Montgomery; parents, Ron and Doreen Skoneki of Montgomery; brothers, Father Bill Skoneki of Auburn, Mark Skoneki and his wife Diana Skoneki of Orlando, Fla., and Scott Skoneki and his wife Kim Skoneki of Montgomery; nephews: Scott Clark and Nick Skoneki and nieces: Annie Skoneki, Whitney Clark, Jessica Heymann, and Jordan Heymann.
Visitation will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church Parish Hall on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bede on Monday, July 13, 2015 with Rev. Bill Skoneki and Rev. Alex officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Family Life Center.
Memorial donations should be made to Hospice of Montgomery, 1111 Holloway Park, Montgomery, Alabama 36117 and Partners in Catholic Education (PICE), 5350 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36116.
