Chuck was born March 11, 1947, in Joliet, IL. He grew up in Braceville, IL graduating with honors from Coal City High School in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart Sharon, and they enjoyed 57 years of happiness together. Chuck earned an Agricultural Engineering Degree from the University of Illinois in 1969 and achieved his MBA from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. After moving around the Midwest for multiple years, Chuck and his family settled in Montgomery, AL for the past 33 years. He was a retiree from Rheem Manufacturing. He held a lifetime membership in the Society of Manufacturing Engineering and held multiple leadership positions in the local chapter. Chuck had a servant’s heart and demonstrated so by serving his church family at First Baptist Church of Montgomery in the capacity of Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, a volunteer in the Caring Center and other capacities when requested.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elva Bozarth and Robert Whittington, brother, Bob Whittington and grandparents, John and Mary Fowler Whittington and Thomas and Cordelia Cook Bozarth.
Chuck is left to cherish his memory by his beloved wife, Sharon E. Rogers Whittington, his brother, Jim Whittington of St. Joseph, MI, his children, Lisa Merrick (Mark) of Perrysburg, OH, Scott Whittington (Saralyn) of Montgomery, AL, Don Whittington (Kristyn) of Jackson, LA; his grandchildren, Beth Fife (John) of Toledo, OH, Kim Montgomery (Tim) of London, OH, Luke Merrick of Perrysburg, OH, Peter Merrick of Oregon, OH, Faith Whittington of Birmingham, AL and Grace Whittington of Montgomery, AL and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 20, 2025 in the Stakely Sanctuary of First Baptist Church Montgomery, AL 305 S Perry Street Montgomery, AL 36104. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM until service time in Stakely Sanctuary. Interment will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons, Luke Merrick, Peter Merrick, Tim Montgomery, John Fife and his nephews, Steve Rogers, Scott Kindlespire, Russell Rogers, and a friend of the family, Caden Lockett.
