Holley "H" Jr. Morin Stanley Jr.

Stanley, Holley M. Jr., affectionately called by family and friends as “H. Jr.,” of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 1:00pm from Aldersgate United Methodist Church with visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Reverend Glen Pugh and Reverend Jim Dannelly will be officiating with graveside services immediately following at the Alabama Heritage Cemetery with Alabama Heritage Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be John Andrews, Kirk Andrews, Jim Andrews, John Bradley, Mark Villadsen, and Ronnie Elmore. Honorary pallbearers will be the Downtown Optimist Club of Montgomery. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Holley M. and Lela Sanford, brother, Sanford Stanley, and sisters, Margaret Hubbard and Sara Ann Sasser. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Miriam (Long) Stanley, son, Steven (Sue) Stanley, daughters, Janice Stanley and Kim Stanley Meyer (Mark) and three grandchildren, Megan and Maddie Stanley, and Jacob Meyer. Mr. Stanley worked as a mortgage banker with Real Estate Financing which later became Regions Mortgage for 47 years where he served as senior vice president. He was inducted into the Montgomery Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 for his outstanding officiating of high school and college games in the state of Alabama, as well as, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Florida. He was also very active in the city’s fastpitch softball program from 1944 until 1983 as a player and coach. Stanley has been a lifelong member of the Downtown Optimist Club working in various fundraising capacities. He was best known in his later years as a “greeter extraordinaire” at his beloved church, Aldersgate UMC. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
