Jane Carole Dumas died peacefully in her home on March 12, 2017, at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents E.H. Gray and Minnie Mae Bradshaw Gray and her beloved sister and brother in law and best friends, Addie Ann and Robert C. Gauthreaux. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, William (Trippie) Thomas Dumas, III. Carole and Trippie were the proud parents of Michelle Carole Parker and Royal Clay Dumas. Carole equally loved her daughter-in-law Patricia, in her mind only her daughter.
Carole loved and adored her grandchildren Crystina Michelle Parker, Colby Gray Parker, Cyle Eric Parker, Cyprian River Dumas, and Tristan Michael Dumas. Her brightest moments were being near each of them and bragging about their accomplishments. She will be greatly missed by all including her niece Brenda Acosta (Keith) and her nephew Robert C. Gauthreaux, Jr. (Tammy).
Carole was born in Comanche, Texas and graduated from Abilene (Texas) High School in 1967. While raising two children, she decided to pursue her passion for knowledge. She graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Alabama in 1985. She subsequently worked at Ingalls Shipyard and served as president of Dumas Engineering for 14 years. At the same time, she was a dedicated youth group leader at Kingswood United Methodist Church. She made the world’s best fudge and lemon meringue pies. She was a lover of games and puzzles, travel, sewing, and the beach. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed recounting family “history” and being together with her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on March 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm, at the Chatom Cemetery, 14600 St. Stephens Ave., Chatom, AL 36518. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
