

Jean was the daughter of the late James Dew and Marjorie Morse Rogers. She graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She married her high school sweetheart, Van Segars, and moved all across the country supporting him and his careers in the United States Air Force and ministry. Their marriage was a loving partnership- equal in serving our country through his military service, serving our Lord through ministry, and serving our family through unconditional love.
Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Jean cherished her family, friends, and anyone who was fortunate enough to meet her. She loved extravagantly and gave freely and generously. She was an active member of Taylor Road Baptist Church.
Jean is survived by her son, Shane Segars and wife Jenelle of Millbrook, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Alisa Segars of Pensacola, Florida; grandsons, Taylor Segars and wife CeCe of Springfield, Missouri; Riley Segars of Washington D.C.; Ben Segars and wife Bailey of Birmingham, Alabama; Cade Segars of Millbrook, Alabama; granddaughters, Amanda Segars of Orlando, Florida; Kaitlyn Kahlhamer and husband Preston of Pensacola, Florida; great grandchildren, Kinsley Segars, Brooks Segars, and Jett Segars of Springfield, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends she treated like family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vance “Van” Segars III; son, Vincent Wesley Segars; brothers James Thomas “Buddy” Rogers, William Daniel “Bill” Rogers and James D. Morse; and sisters Marjorie “Sister” Gray and Jo Anne West.
Friends are cordially invited to gather at a celebration of life service on Thursday, May 7th at 11:00am at Taylor Road Baptist Church 1685 Taylor Road, Montgomery, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean’s name to the Building Fund at Taylor Road Baptist Church.
