She was born November 22, 1945, to the late Colonel Merwin Glenn Velders (USAF) and Gloria Caress Velders in St. Louis, MO. She loved the extensive travel resulting from her father's military profession, and particularly enjoyed living and working in England and Germany as a young adult.
After marriage, Lani devoted herself to the two areas of greatest importance in her life--her family, and church. She served the Christian Science church as a volunteer throughout her adult life; but her most impactful roles were as a steadfast wife and loving, caring mother to her two daughters. Her devotion to and joy in her children and grandchildren continued to the end of her life.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 45 years, Joseph William (Bill) Davis.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie Paige Davis Khamken and Laura Elizabeth Davis Terrell (Jared), her grandchildren, Emma Paige Khamken, Graham Davis Vansyoc, Evelyn Elisabeth Vansyoc, Maren Kate Terrell, her beloved sisters, Deborah Velders and Lisa K. Shroder (Tom), along with an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished in-laws.
A Celebration of Lani’s Life will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home 10505 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL 36117. Private burial to follow.
