Lawrence Jackson (Jack) McKinley, a longtime resident of Montgomery died Sunday, December 16, 2018 after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Atkins and Rev. Dean Finch officiating. Private family burial will follow at Greenwood Mausoleum.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Louise McKinley and his grandson Lawrence Christian Woodard (Lance) of Montgomery, AL. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Shirley; his daughter Linda McKinley (Bill), son Eric McKinley; Grandsons Jason, Matthew and Sean of Auburn, AL; sisters Diane Myrick (David) of Mobile, AL, Dolores McLaughlin of Foley, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack has been a licensed insurance agent since 1945 and an agent with Life Insurance Co of Alabama since 1968 where he was the recipient of many awards. He was a Dixie Youth Baseball Coach for many years and loved working with young people. He has a wonderful sense of humor. His wisdom and wit will be a fond memory to his family and friends. Jack was a longtime member of Taylor Road Baptist Church and his Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers. Pallbearers will be Sean, Jason, Matthew McKinley, Sonny Grier, Brandon Grier and David Myrick.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Taylor Road Baptist Church Missions Projects, 1685 Taylor Road, Montgomery, AL 36117.
