
Marcheta May “Keeta” Kendall, born September 7th, 1941 in Birmingham, AL. Parents Jimmie May “May” Segrest Kendall and Hunter Earnest Kendall. Graduated from Huntingdon College and employed by the State of Alabama as an archivist, before retirement. Resided in Tuskegee, AL for a significant portion of her life. Passed away on April 6th, 2026, age 84 at Diversicare in Montgomery AL.
Keeta is predeceased by her sister Ernestine “Teeny” Jones, her mother “May” Kendall and her father Hunter Kendall.
Keeta made many lifelong friends in her archival work. Keeta was a passionate animal rescuer, having saved the lives of dozens of cats and dogs that had been abandoned. She spent her retirement years caring for her growing pack of gratefully rescued animals. Keeta also loved suspense novels and collecting old family artifacts. Keeta was an active listener and caller for the “Hubcap Classics” radio program. Keeta’s intelligence and wit were well-known, and her wicked giggle was a treasure to earn.
Keeta is survived by her nephew Benjamin Jones & wife Chrissy Jones; and her beloved cousin Dallas Segrest Partin, cousin Michael Segrest and other bereaved relations.
In lieu of Flowers, a Donation may be made in Keeta’s name to the SPCA or your local animal shelter.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Bradfords Chapel Cemetery 2091 County Road 29 Tuskegee, AL
